Course Description
DOS 515 familiarizes students with computer components, networks, safety, and applications for medical dosimetry. Course topics included history of computers, representation of data, and building complex systems. As the course progressed topics of hardware, software, and networking were more deeply investigated. The course concluded with discussions on managing systems, and medical applications such as DICOM and PACS.
Assessment
Weekly topics were covered in lectures, notes, and videos. Assessment of comprehension and progress in this course took the form of weekly discussions and a weekly quiz.

The computer applications in medical dosimetry will require in depth training. While this course provides a solid overview of computer technology, specialized and in depth study will be necessary to excel as a dosimetrist. It is my hope that I can utilize what I’ve learned in this course to absorb new information related to the applications I’ll be using as a dosimetrist.
