My short term professional goals are perhaps the most obvious. I plan to complete the UWLAX Medical Dosimetry program, pass my MDCB boards, and secure a job working in the field. Mid and long term goals are more complex. Initial employment in medical dosimetry is crucial and time sensitive. I plan to do anything necessary to get my foot in the door, even if that means taking a part time or temporary position. It would be optimal to gain my employment in a stable full time position with the ability to grow as a dosimetrist. If initially I am not able to obtain such a position my intermediate goal would be to seek out something that fits this objective.
My long term goal as a professional medical dosimetrist will be to become an integral and valued member of a medical dosimetry team. This would involve taking advantage of opportunities for advanced training and education. If I can obtain a unique or specialized skillset I will be able to ensure that I maximize my potential to become an important team member.
Employment as a medical dosimetrist has been a long term goal of mine for many years. As I come closer to achieving this goal it is important for me to consider new intermediate and long term goals. This will ensure I am able enjoy the fruits of my labor for many years to come.
Professional goals:
- Short term: within 1 year-job in medical dosimetry field.
- Intermediate term: within 5 years-stable full time career with ability to grow.
- Long term; within 10 years-learn integral skills, become a valued team member.
