My current educational goals focus on my success and completion of the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse Medical Dosimetry program. I plan to tackle one semester at a time to develop my skills as a medical dosimetrist. Each subsequent semester provides me the opportunity to reflect on what I've learned and examine where I can improve. My ultimate short term educational goal is successful competion of the MDCB exam. Each semester takes me one step closer to this goal.
Working as medical dosimetrist I will be required to become familiar with multiple programs and information management systems which may differ from facility to facility. My intermediate educational goal is to become proficient with all of the systems at my place of employment to the capacity that I can assist others and problem solve when issues arise. I realize that as a new dosimetrist there will still be much for me to learn. If I am able to troubleshoot problems with software that myself or other team members encounter I will be able to transition from a novice dosimetrist to a more experienced team member.
My long term educational goals involve taking advantage of opportunities in the workplace to receive specialized training. I realize that having an advanced and versatile skill set will make me a valued and integral part of my dosimetry team. If I can specialize in any treatment modality or learn a skill that others do not have I will be a vital asset to my treatment planning team. Taking advantage of opportunities for specialized training is my long term educational goal and I believe it will be important in securing a long term position as a medical dosimetrist.
